No Rehearsal 1/16/13

Happy belated 2013 HBHers!

Please note there will be NO REHEARSAL THIS WEEK (January 16) due to a Niu Valley Middle School meeting that will be held in the band room... We will be unable to use the band room just for this week... Rehearsal will resume on January 23...

Again, NO REHEARSAL on January 16... See you on January 23!

HBH Thank Yous and Reminder...

Great job at the concert tonight everybody! I know there were a few shaky moments, but we all pulled through and made it happen...

Thank you to everyone who brought delicious food tonight. Everything was super tasty! I had a hard time eating the jello Christmas tree because it was so cute, haha...

Thank you again to all of the students who came out to join us... Your presence makes the band much fuller and more exciting...

Thank you to Shayna Pak for being tonight's emcee... Appreciate that much... But I think I'll pass on doing the Tholenese Sleigh Ride intro from now on, haha. That was total fail... I don't have it in me to be a great public speaker like yourself... You're a natural... =)

Thank you to Daniel Akemoto for always doing such a great job conducting us and being accepting of us and dealing with ppl like me who start laughing at inappropriate times. Your vision of HBH is one that helped turn this band into a sense of "family," which in turn makes playing in HBH much more relaxing and enjoyable...

And last but not least, thank you to Wayne Fanning... For being patient with us and being very generous in allowing us to use Niu Valley equipment and providing us a place to rehearse and perform... You have been very accommodating to this grp and we appreciate you tremendously... 

We wouldn't be where we are today if it weren't for everyone's efforts... Thank you all...

Please start thinking about what kind of food you would like to bring... We normally do a potluck type thing where we bring food to share with the audience during and after the performance... People always cook up something super delicious, so it makes these types of concerts more fun and rewarding...

Christmas Music and Other Stuff...

Just a little update for those of you who haven't been able to make it to rehearsals due to recent schedule conflicts... In the next few rehearsals we should probably start thinking about what kind of program we want to put together for our Christmas concerts... I am also looking into possibly another Arcadia Retirement Residence performance, so we could keep this in mind as well...  Any suggestions on what you guys wanna play? I want Christmas Festival, haha... And I have a couple of clarinet quartets for HLCO to play... Remember, this is a member driven group. If you want to do a Bb Major scale for our concert and everyone agrees to it, we can do that too... If you have any friends interested in coming out to play music with us, please send them an invite! As long as they agree with our bylaws, they can join... Anyone up for a "bring a friend to band" day? Haha... And that is it... For now. Until next time.

Great Job at HKRC Today!

Great job today... Thank you to the flutes, saxes, low brass and Holo Le`a Clarinet Ohana for the awesome small ensemble performances... I had a lot of fun... I hope you guys did too.  Thank you Daniel and Wayne for doing a great job conducting us... And thank you Shayna for a great job doing all the introductions and talking stuff. You're a natural... =) And of course, thank you to Hawaii Kai Retirement Community for having us. =) Just a reminder, no rehearsal this coming Wednesday, August 15... Thank you guys again... =)
